In this week’s Travel Talk, I’m featuring one of the coolest Norwegian travel bloggers in the industry – it’s Lisa from Fjords and Beaches!
I’m not lying when I say that the Travel Talk section is probably my favorite part of this whole travel blog thingy. Not only do I like connecting with other fierce travel bloggers out there, but I also like the fact that these articles are kind of dedicated to honor all of their hard work. There’s an awful lot of competition in this business, and I think it’s sad that we often tend of focus on rivalry rather than to lift each other up. Let’s change that, shall we?!
In this week’s Travel Talk, I’m incredibly excited to present to you a fellow Norwegian adventurer, girl boss and travel blogger – the amazing Lisa from Fjords and Beaches.
Travel Talk with Lisa// Fjords and Beaches
Hi Lisa! First things first – can you tell us a few things about yourself?
I’m a 26 year old travel blogger and wanderluster from the beautiful fjords of Norway. My blog, Fjords and Beaches, is partly inspired by the area where I grew up and the majestic nature of Norway, and partly by my constant longing for the ocean. I’m happiest when I’m looking out on the fjords of my hometown, or when I’m sitting on a beach, coconut in hand and saltwater in my hair.
I have been blogging for years, and it all started when I moved to Wales as an exchange student. In order to keep my family & friends at home up to date with my adventures abroad, I started a little blog just for them. Eventually I moved to London to study law (my favourite city), and kept blogging for everyone at home. Throughout my years blogging I did as much travel as I could, and loved sharing these adventures on the blog. Eventually my new friends started complaining, as they couldn’t read my Norwegian blog, so I started writing in English. Best decision ever. One day I realised that travel blogging wasn’t just a fun hobby, it is actually my dream job. So I started working harder on Fjords and Beaches, in order to be able to do it full time one day! This is still my goal today, and I’m slowly working my way towards it. I’d love for you to follow my journey!
You have travelled lots, Lisa, but what is your favorite city?
As mentioned above, my favourite city is London. There is no other place in the world like it, and I miss it every day. The busy city, the nightlife, the great restaurants, the amazing and friendly people. I could go on and on! Another favourite destination I’ve visited recently is Hawaii. I spent a few weeks in Oahu, and absolutely loved the beauty of the island! It’s at the top of my list for places I want to revisit, and I hope to see the other Hawaiian islands one day.
… And where are you NEVER going back?
This is a tricky one. I have never been a fan of Paris, and find it to be a very overrated city. But I’d never say that I’m never going back, as even after my first visit I’ve been there 3 times. There’s just something about Paris that can never compare to London, in my opinion. I know it’s many people’s favourite, and that it is the most romantic city in the world and all that, but to me it just wasn’t. Not that there aren’t some amazing sights in Paris, though. I still think visiting the Père Lachaise Cemetery is one of the coolest things ever!
What do you always bring with you in your suitcase?
I never travel without my portable charger, Kindle and GoPro. My GoPro is a godsend, and despite wondering for weeks whether I should invest in one, I have never regretted it! Whether I bring it to a water park or to go diving, it’s the ideal travel companion!
Can you reveal where you are headed next?
My next booked trips include mainland Spain (which I’m really excited about, as I’ve only travelled to the islands before), and New Orleans (which has been on my list for way too long)! I’m also hoping to get a trip to Singapore booked, as I recently read a book about the city which has me dying to go!
Lisa is a 26 year old travel blogger from the beautiful fjords of Norway with a severe coffee addiction and a constant longing for the ocean. She brings her MacBook with her wherever she goes and loves sharing her adventures on FjordsandBeaches.com! She wishes that life could be just like on Instagram all the time, never travels without her Kindle, and harbours just a tiny obsession for everything Disney.
