Rome through Instagram: Inspiring IG Accounts

Rome through Instagram

I love Instagram. I love Rome. In this naughty little mid-week treat, I combine the best of both worlds and offer you a glimpse into discovering Rome through Instagram.

By now, I think you are all aware of just how much I love Rome. If you for some reason happen to be in doubt, you can read this article about my love for Roman food. My Norwegian readers can also do a quick time travel through my much dreaded archives, and rediscover all the love letters I wrote to Rome during my time there (please don’t).

Anyway. Rome. Roma. This wee article is simply just a treat for those of you who are,  just like me, utterly obsessed with beautiful Rome – its lively piazzas, its delicious cuisine and its warm colours. Here, I’ve put together a list of all my favourite IGers and bloggers. It’s basically a wee guide to discover (and fall in love with) Rome through Instagram. It features all those inspiring people that I always turn to when I need a wee dosage of magical Rome in my everyday life. So without further ado, let’s have a look at the most inspiring Rome accounts on the ‘gram.

  1. An American in Rome: Natalie Kennedy

California-born and Italy-based, Natalie Kennedy is one of the best Rome bloggers out there. She was supposed to only stay in Rome for 1 year, but she accidentally fell in love and got married. You can read her full love story here. Today, she is running one of my favourite IG accounts.

A modern Roman chariot! Today is Rome's 2,770th birthday. Tanti Auguri, Roma! #natalediroma

2. sara_ :Sara White

Sara White is a Canadian web designer and photographer living la dolce vita in the eternal city. Her photos are absolutely stunning, and I may or may not have a mild crush on her entire life.

Friday afternoon vibes.

3. Browsing Rome: Diana

Did I really make it this far without introducing a food blogger?! Diana’s IG is all about delicious Italian food, good wine and fresh veggies. In other words, it’s the perfect place to go for some serious food envy. As I am probably one of the worst chefs out there, I very often find myself screenshotting her food and sending it to my boyfriend with the loving message of “Make me this. I’ll bring wine”. Yum.

4. Elizabeth Minchilli

Yet another food blogger! Elizabeth Minchilli is somewhat a legend in the Roman food scene, and she has written several books on Rome (both its architecture and its food). Together with her daughter, Sophie, she even leads food tours around Rome.

Elizabeth is a pro. If she can’t make you fall in love with Bella Roma, then no one can.

So happy to be right here, right now. #umbria #picodoggie

5. Cavaforlunch: Christina Sunneklep

Ha! Well, not to be completely self-obsessed here, but I couldn’t really end this list without mentioning myself… I spent nearly 2 years living in Rome, so I still count myself as some kind of expert. While I can’t cook like Diana from Browsing Rome or take photos like Sara White, I still hope that I can inspire some more people to embrace the beauty of Rome.

ah I have been day dreaming of Italy so much lately and this just adds fuel to the fire! LOVE that sunrise (sunset?) photo in Umbria with the dog.
Also I now really want pizza. But proper Italian pizza because the takeout crap around here will just not do it justice. ;)

Haha, maybe it’s a sign, Hannah? ;) Hopefully you’ll be on your way to Italy soon (and hopefully you’ll get your hands on a decent pizza as well…) xx

Så mange nydelige bilder! Takk for mange tips til fine kontoer å følge. Haha, drømmen min var også å plutselig ende opp gift mens jeg besøkte Roma, slik at jeg kunne bli der forever, men det gikk ikke helt slik dessverre. :p
