Travel Talk with the DobeGlobe

In this week’s Travel Talk, I’m featuring one of the coolest chicks in the travel industry – it’s Cigdem from the DobeGlobe!

Hi Cigdem! Today, you run the popular travel blog DobeGlobe, but how did this whole adventure start?

I used to have my own beautychannel on youtube where I did tutorials mostly. After doing this for a few years I noticed that I also got pleasure from different things like traveling and discovering cool new cities/hotspots and I decided to change it up a bit. My focus changed and currently my mainfocus is travel- I will always have a big love for beauty related subjects but Travel is something that fits the current me so much more.
I actually got inspired by my own friends. I was living in Asia and I was traveling a lot. I also loved writing and I was posting all these long stories with pics on my Facebook. After so many friends told me: Girl, just start a travel blog- I was like- yea, why not?
And I never regret doing it. Having a successful travel blog is so super cool. It gave me so much opportunities, I have met amazing people in the industry and I will forever be thankful for that.

But what it is that makes your blog so unique?

I think what seperates my blog from others is that it is not only a travel blog. Yes, the main focus is on traveling and wanderlusting through the world, but because of my experience in the beauty industry I also often write cool things for the female traveler about beauty and lifestyle. Besides this I am writing columns to provide fun and easy reads for travelers during their travels. So over all- it is more an online travel magazine where travelers can find reviews, columns, travel hack tips and trips and much more.

As an avid traveler – do you have a favorite city?

For me, the island of Bali will always be very special for me. I used to live in Bali and it will always feel like home. Bali is always described as the “Island of the Gods” and it truly is. It is amazingly beautiful, you have everything that your heart desires. Beautiful weather, amazing beaches, kind locals, the jungle, volcanos, beautiful nature and amazing food. Yes- everyone should visit Bali at one point in their life!

… And which place are you NEVER going back to?

I don’t have a place that I will ‘never’ go back too. So far I am lucky and I found the beauty of all the destinations that I have been too.

Where are you and the DobeGlobe headed next?

Travelwise, I will go to Bali, Singapore – San Fran and Los Angeles in the up coming months.
With my website I am exploring the freelance site a bit more. I not only write for my own website but I have several assignments for other brands and this year it is my main focus to focus more on that. Thanks to my website DobeGlobe.com I meet a lot of cool people and I get great opportunities to realize this goal of mine.
